Israel Day 8, 11July

The Valley of Elah: Where David fought with Goliath. There’s a type of edible bean on the trees there, but it’s only sweet if you eat along the sides. There are many rocks on the ground. Eli told us that to hit people more efficiently, we have to pick a stone that’s easy to grip. And he helped me pick a stone that is easy to grip. I saw a large rock on the ground with an angry face on it: somebody must have drew on the rock as a joke. It reminds me of Goliath. So I pretended to throw a rock at it.

Tel Azeka: Important place even in biblical times. Tel= hill built by a people, not a natural hill.
Assyrian destroyed this area. Nebachadnezzar too. There are two sides in this area. There is a Israel side. The Philistines side is current Gaza. Joshua 10: The miracle of the hailstorms, where the enemies got killed by the hail.

Went to a shopping centre during lunch time and bought lots of Israeli coffee!

Beit Shemesh: Samson’s birth place, the land of the wine. The place where Philistines took away the ark. Samson lives in the land of the wine and cannot have any wines! We went to a beautiful vineyard and saw many beautiful grapes. We tasted some pretty nice wines. They got award winning wines, “Samson” and “Delilah” wines! I bought some wines and honey there.

Jerusalem: Went to the city centre with some other people in the tour group on a beautiful “school bus.” Finally bought the shofar. Also got a few other things including the prayer shawl and some anointing oil.
